About MaggieBeth

Born and raised in Bangor, Maine, I am a recent graduate of the University of Maine where I studied Earth & Climate Sciences with a minor in Astronomy. I was a six-term NASA intern and am currently a Postbaccalaureate Research Assistant at NASA GSFC. Outside of scientific pursuits, I am a flautist and enjoy crocheting, kayaking, and exploring the blue marble we call home.

Research

I'm interested in the study of exoplanets and their systems using theoretical modeling and transit spectroscopy. Particularly, my research applies Earth systems processes to Earth-like exoplanets to characterize surface-atmospheric interactions and their implications in the search for life. In pursuit of this work, I also study the development of flagship space-based missions like the Habitable Worlds Observatory and have an interest in space policy.

Academics

I took a variety of courses across STEM and Humanities disciplines as an undergraduate at the University of Maine, with an emphasis placed on Geology and Astronomy courses. Outside of coursework I held multiple Astronomy-related positions as a Learning and Teaching Assistant and Planetarium Show Presenter.
